Rose Bay's new Sydney Seaplanes Terminal has opened its doors and taken flight in spectacular style. This stunning venue, including a terminal, lounge and bar, function area and flying boat museum, is suspended over Australia's beautiful Sydney Harbour. Crossley Architects were honoured to be granted the opportunity to design and document this new seaplane base in their very own (be it extensive) backyard.
The site has such a rich history with the original seaplane base, dating back to 1938, playing a vital role in Australia's Aviation Golden Age. Then, the boats were equipped to carry fifteen passengers and a journey from Sydney to London took ten days and required thirty refuelling stops.
