Cube Oceanarium

Crossley Architects have recently completed the architectural, exhibit, interior and interpretive design and documentation for Cube Oceanarium in Chengdu. Chengdu is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in China.

 

The Ocean Exhibit of the aquarium will be one of the largest in China and boasts what will soon be the world’s largest acrylic panel at 40 metres long by 8.3 metres high. When complete this aquarium will take the current Guinness record from Resorts World Sentosa’s SEA Aquarium of 36 metres.

 

The aquarium experience continues from the Ocean Exhibit to the fifth floor of the centre. From here, the great Jiaolong Dragon spans the Pacific Ocean and takes visitors from China to the East through the Deep Sea trenches, across the Tropical Seas to the Amazon, the Northern Artic and back again.
